Mind-Body-Soul-Spirit Connection

At any given time, there is no guarantee that human life will continue to be preserved in a healthy state. When people suffering from anxiety and stress are unaware of their ‘self,’ they look at the problem as a whole. It’s a holistic approach to well-being and health that comprises all the components—mind, body, soul, and spirit.

Let’s say it’s a headache; they call it a headache, but a headache is only in the head; it’s a mental issue, and it can occur when someone cannot deal with intriguing emotions, which is a matter of the soul. It’s not a physical problem or a spiritual problem. It’s not the problem for feet or hands, but they call it a whole because ‘they are not well’. This is because it is intricately related to everything else. It is interconnected and affects one another.

One must have consciousness of all aspects of their being, including the body, mind, soul, and spirit. One ought to be aware of and comprehend these four components, which serve as the wheels to propel this human life in an easy and smooth manner. The precarious nature of any of these four wheels can throw one off balance and cause life’s momentum to become derailed.

Therefore, we must understand how we can achieve inner peace and harmony among these four elements that make up life. Certain yoga and meditation positions must be done with the help of an experienced yogi or other knowledgeable people.

The Body

The physical manifestation of our existence in this world is the flesh and blood that make up our bodies. All the sensations we take in through our senses originate in the body, making it the most critical component of our experience. Our bodies communicate using the language of atoms, particles, molecules, and other components. The human body is made up of trillions of cells, and these cells generate tissues, help in nerve function, and contribute to the growth of our bones, skeletons, and organs.

Your body is the foundation upon which all of your experiences are built, and this can only happen if it is healthy and free from ailments such as disease, pain, and illness. Wise people realise the importance of maintaining a healthy body, so they participate in physical activities, maintain a healthy diet, and go to the doctor for regular checkups.

The Mind

The mind is a reflection of the mental and emotional aspects of our being, and it is responsible for the formulation and execution of our ideas, thoughts, feelings, and emotions. It is made up of our memories, conscious and unconscious thoughts, as well as our imagination. It is mainly accountable for the belief systems, thoughts, and deeds that we carry out in our day-to-day lives as a result of our daily activities.

In order to maintain a healthy mind, we must ensure that there is sufficient rest as well as opportunities for reflective thought.

The Soul

Your soul, or spirit, is an aspect of who you are. You might also refer to this ethereal part of yourself as your essence. If you are a follower of a specific religion, you may find it easy to make a connection with the concept that you have a soul because that religion teaches that souls exist. You can develop a religious or spiritual practise even if you have never done so before by engaging in activities such as spending time alone in nature, practising yoga or meditation, or participating in other spiritual practises.

The Spirit

The spirit is the energy the soul experiences. Its offspring appear once the soul connects with supreme consciousness. The spirit connects all three elements, the body, the mind, and the soul. It is responsible for bringing out a person’s distinct personality and aiding communication with Brahm, the Supreme Being, and is referred to as the divine force that propels life. And it dismantles all the castles of beliefs that a being regards as their true self—which is not an absolute illusion—and divides them into believer and unbeliever beings. Therefore, the soul functions as a network that connects the cellulite to the primary network. It’s precisely the same as a phone that has a sim card in it, but without a network, it’s completely useless.

Every person has their own unique identity, which is formed based on their past experiences and memories, as well as their beliefs, perceptions, life goals, ways of thinking, and preferences. A person’s so-called “self” does not remain constant; it shifts in response to their genes and the circumstances of their environment. Some people think of their “self” as their soul, and they get upset when their view of themselves or their ideas are challenged or turned down by someone else.

A realised soul is aware of this distinction, allowing them to avoid the pitfalls of prejudice and chaos and maintain their equilibrium. They are well aware that any criticism or attack directed at them is not directed at their soul, the “mool prakriti,” or original nature, or soul. They know that they are not their body or mind but rather their soul, and this cognition is gained through the spirit.

They live in their mental selves, putting themselves in a cage they’ve built for themselves. They take every insult or attack on their ego to heart, which makes them angry and anxious. It never occurs with awakened beings because they are aware that their true self is the soul that breathes somewhere inside and that the soul is invisible in the body as the driving force. This is possible because awakened beings cultivate complete awareness and discover inner liberty, or consciousness.

Well-being depends on synchronising the connections between body, mind, and soul. And if all three are healthy, the flow of divine energy between the jiva, the soul, and the brahm, the supreme consciousness, stays healthy.
